2018 FIELDING DREAMS HONOREE

RICK A. PARISI

Rick A. Parisi, RLA, FASLA, CLARB, is the Managing Principal of MPFP, an internationally renowned landscape architecture and urban design firm that is recognized as one of the foremost pioneers exploring the social and physical dynamics that shape our urban spaces and global landscapes. Under Mr. Parisi’s leadership, the firm plays an instrumental role in challenging traditional perceptions of spatial design in the urban, institutional, healthcare, workplace, playground and residential environments.

The Randall’s Island Master Plan and Icahn Stadium Track and Field Center have been considered the most rewarding public private partnership projects in Rick’s career. In addition he was the lead designer and Team leader for the Randall’s Island Field Development Project – one of the most ambitious field production projects ever undertaken in the United States.

CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN HONOREE

ABBY WAMBACH

Abby Wambach is the all-time leading scorer in international soccer history with 184 career goals. She was the United States’ leading scorer in the 2007 and 2011 Women’s World Cup tournaments and the 2004 and 2012 Olympics. (She missed Beijing 2008 due to a broken leg.)

Her ability to wear down defenses with her physical play, aerial game and hard running has long been a key to the USA’s success. After winning the Women’s World Cup in 2015, Wambach retired as one of the most dominant players in the history of women’s soccer.

The Randall’s Island Park Alliance (RIPA) partners with the City, local communities and our generous supporters to offer all New Yorkers – from athletes to artists, from children to seniors, and from amateurs to world champions – the kind of parkland and expansive views that invite us to reach for our dreams. For over 25 years, RIPA has worked to expand community and youth programs, restore the Island’s natural ecosystems and foster healthy and active lifestyles through the maintenance and care of 330 acres of parkland, including more than half of Manhattan’s premier playing fields.
